Sex Offender Compliance Update (11 Arrest)

06/27/2017

During the week of June 19-24, Deputies spent three nights paying visits to every registered sex offender within Chilton County.

Sheriff John Shearon stated, “11 Sex Offenders were arrested during a compliance check last week.” “It is our responsibility to make sure these registered sex offenders are compliant and not violating any laws.” Investigators Jennifer Bland and Derrick Bone put together a gameplan and saw that it was executed to the fullest. “Checks were conducted on all 150 sex offenders living in our county in 3 nights. During the checks, 11 sex offenders were arrested and warrants have been issued for another.”-Investigator Bone.  Russel Lathrop was charged with possession of marijuana 2nd and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jason Williams is charged with possession of marijuana 2nd. Roy Lucas and Calvin Aultman are charged with failure to register with local law enforcement. Tommy Wilson and Phillip Stewart is charged with living in a prohibited residence location. Wilson had a 3 year old female and Stewart had a 16 year old male at their residence during the checks, which is a violation of the sex offender registration notification act. David Davis was arrested for failure to register with local law enforcement, failure to pay registration fees and community corrections warrant. James Klinger was arrested for failure to register with local law enforcement and living in a prohibited residence location. Jennifer Henry was arrested at the Chilton County High School for criminal trespassing and Terry Elmore had an outstanding warrant for failure to make child attend school. There was also a juvenile arrested for failure to register with local law enforcement. Because the juvenile was convicted in juvenile court, his name can not be released. Sheriff Shearon stated, “this was a successful compliance check. If you're a sex offender living in this county, you will obey the SORNA law or you will go to jail. I would like to thank Clanton, Thorsby, Jemison and Maplesville Police Departments, along with the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles and my deputies for conducting these checks.” “I have obtained a felony warrant for Vernon Scott Carter for failure to register with local law enforcement. Vernon Carter has recently moved from his residence on county road 26 in Plantersville and has failed to provide the Sheriff's Department with a new address. Vernon Carter needs to turn himself into local law enforcement, or other wise we will use every resource available to find you.”-Investigator Bone. If you know where Vernon Carter is, please contact the Chilton County Sheriff's Office, 205-755-4698.
