Days Inn Drug Arrest

07/04/2017

On June 29 2017, narcotics investigators and patrol deputies responded to Days Inn in Clanton to attempt an arrest warrant on Travis Michael Williams. It was discovered that Williams had a room rented at the Days Inn. Investigators verified that Williams had an active warrant and that he was in the room, at which time Days Inn management made entry to speak with Williams. Williams was then taken into custody. During the arrest, deputies observed a substance in the room that appeared to be methamphetamine. A presumptive field test was conducted on the substance with a positive result for methamphetamine. A subsequent search warrant was written and granted. 130 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located during the search. Williams was charged with Drug Trafficking and Unlawful Possession of Paraphernalia. Investigators estimate the street value of the methamphetamine to be approximately $13,000.00.

***UPDATE***

It has come to light that some possible negative feedback has been raised regarding the Days Inn of Clanton. The Chilton County Sheriffs Office would like to clarify that the management of the Days Inn Clanton was instrumental in the investigation of this case. They assisted above and beyond a normal capacity, and the Chilton County Sheriffs Office would like to take this opportunity to thank Days Inn Clanton for the progress they have made in the past several months to assist law enforcement, and helping the citizens of Chilton County with it's battle against narcotics. This investigation started as a basic arrest warrant, but led into a larger investigation. This could have happened at any hotel, business, or private location. Fortunately, it happened at a location with personnel willing to stand up for their local community. For that, we say "Thank You, Days Inn".
