06/20/2017

On June 16, 2017, Deputies from the Patrol Division and Narcotics Investigators assigned to the Special Operations Division responded to a Suspicion Person call in the 5900 block of County Rd 754 in the Lomax area. On arrival Deputies observed Lewis Leonard Simpson in the yard of the residence. Deputies knew Simpson to have an outstanding Felony Theft Warrant and attempted to take him into custody. Simpson fled into the residence and locked the door. After an attempt to get the occupants to open the door, Deputies forced entry into the residence and Simpson was apprehended fleeing from rear of the residence.  Deputies detected the strong odor of marijuana inside the residence and observed property both inside and outside the residence that matched the description of stolen property taken in a Burglary in the Liberty Hill area the previous week. Investigators obtained a Search Warrant for the residence and subsequently located marijuana, drug paraphernalia and approximately $6500 in stolen property. Simpson, Andra Howard Jr., and Casey Michelle Watkins were taken into custody for outstanding Warrants, Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree and misdemeanor drug and obstruction charges. Additional charges relating to the Burglary and Theft are being investigated.
