Drug Arrest

On 01/05/2017 at 2145, Corporal Corry McCartney and Deputy Rachel Mims was responding to a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a local business on Highway 31 in Chilton County. Corporal McCartney and Deputy Mims initiated a traffic stop on the suspicious vehicle. When deputies approached the vehicle the suspect, Jeremy Cobb Deavers, went to exit the vehicle. Corporal McCartney noticed a loaded magazine to a firearm in the side compartment of the driver's side door. Corporal McCartney and Deputy Mims conducted a vehicle search for the firearm and additional weapons. The firearm was retrieved from under the driver's side seat and was later determined to have been stolen out of Talladega County. Corporal McCartney and Deputy Mims conducted a vehicle search for more weapons and any illegal substance. Upon searching the vehicle for weapons, Deputy Mims found a clear bag containing 5 smaller clear bags containing clear crystal substances and 1 smaller clear bag containing a white rock substance. The substance was later field tested and was determined to be crack cocaine and methamphetamine. Mr. Deavers was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property 4th, and pistol without a permit. Mr. Deavers is being held at the Chilton County jail without bond.

 

 All arrested subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
